Maryland Public Television Expands Its Control Room Using DNF Controls
March 14, 2005

DNF Controls today announced that Maryland Public Television purchased its 3040P Playlist Playout Controller and 2034CL Clip Instant Access System as part of an ongoing upgrade and expansion of the station's two control rooms. The DNF controllers will be integral components of a system capable of both SD and HD production that will provide 5.1 audio and greater flexibility for video switching, effects, live feeds, and other features.

"We've used DNF Controls' equipment before in remote trucks and have had great success," said George Beneman, Maryland Public Television's vice president of technology. "We chose them again for our control room projects because we really like how easy they are to operate and maintain. Their performance is very reliable, and that's important to us as we build new control rooms that need to meet all our needs for the next few decades."

The 3040P Playlist Playout Controller will be used by Maryland Public Television for playback of clips and moving backgrounds from a playlist, while the 2034CL Clip Instant Access System will be used for random-access clip playback.

DNF's 3040P Playlist Playout Controller, which combines DNF's ST400 controller with a large LCD display and Playlist Playout software, can control one playlist per channel on up to five channels, for a total of 2,000 elements. With the 3040P users can quickly and easily create playlists, play them, and modify them during playout. The 2034CL Clip Instant Access System consists of DNF's ST300 Controller with Cliplist software and its ST420 Shotbox, which stores up to 300 single clips or clip combinations in 10 banks of 30 keys. The names of the clips are displayed on the keys and can be assigned and accessed with a single touch.
