DNF's DMAT Sports Controller a Home Run at Hammons Field
September 13, 2005

DNF Controls today announced that systems integrator SG Integration selected the DMAT-O Sports Controller to provide playback capabilities for a full-color LED video board installed at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo., home of the Springfield Cardinals, a minor-league affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. By providing quick and precise control of video servers, the DMAT-O Sports Controller makes it easy for operators to entertain fans with slow-motion-capable instant replays, highlight clip lists, and player profiles that can be quickly created and played out.

"The DNF DMAT-O Sports Controller makes it very easy for us to create and play out highlight lists on our Doremi DVRs," said Tony Bishop, senior designer at SG Integration. "The hardware user interface is top-notch, and DNF's reputation for reliability is well founded, as our previous experience with the company has proven. We didn't hesitate in making the decision to go with DNF again."

Three Sony DSR-390 camcorders -- two stationary and one roving wireless utilizing an RF Central RFX microwave video link -- capture all of the action at Hammons Field. The footage is recorded onto two Doremi V1-MP2 digital video recorders, which are controlled by the DMAT-O. Operators can quickly create playlists that include a variety of popular features -- instant replays with slow motion capability, game action, player profiles, live crowd scenes, graphics, and advertising. The playlists are then played out on a 35-by-20-foot, full-color Barco LED display. The scoreboard was installed during stadium construction in 2004, and the video board and production system were built onto it earlier this year.

The DMAT-O family of Sports Controllers can be used with most video servers that support simultaneous record and playback under the Odetics protocol, enabling operators to continue recording interviews and on-field action even after cutting away to spots. They can access up to four record trains for creation of clips, save them and recall them with minimal keystrokes, add them to highlight lists, assign variable playout speeds, and play them out in seconds. An easy-to-read display and simple control panel layout streamlines the controller's operation, and the DMAT-O's T-bar allows precise speed control for slow-motion playback.
