Sundance Digital Relies on DNF Controls' SW2x1 RS422 Switch for Redundancy in Automation Systems
January 16, 2007

DNF Controls today announced that Sundance Digital, a part of Avid Technology, Inc. and a leading provider of innovative broadcast automation systems, is offering DNF's SW2x1 RS422 A/B switch as a standard option for its Titan and Fastbreak NXT Automation systems. Customers who elect to include the SW2x1 component in their automation systems receive an added measure of redundancy for maintaining control over broadcast devices such as video servers, switchers, routers, branding devices, character generators, and logo insertion systems.

"DNF's SW2x1 switching component has allowed us to further tailor the Titan and Fastbreak systems to address the concerns of customers with mission-critical operations or multichannel broadcasts," said Sundance Digital Vice President of Sales and Marketing Steve Krant. "The SW2x1 RS422 A/B switch offers both the flexibility and reliability we require in our product design. We've worked with DNF Controls in the past on various technology integrations, and our experience has always been outstanding. The integration of the SW2x1 option is no exception to this trend."

The SW2x1 integrates directly with the SIDON (Sundance Integrated Device Operating Network) component in the Titan and Fastbreak system architectures. Each SW2x1 provides two RS422 inputs and one RS422 output that allow users to switch from on-air automation system to backup control system quickly and easily at the press of a button or a GPI trigger. The product is fully scalable, allowing Sundance Digital to customize its redundancy option to suit the unique needs of each Titan and Fastbreak customer.

"DNF is pleased to extend our technology partnership with Sundance Digital and together offer a product that will better address the needs of broadcast professionals," said DNF Controls President Dan Fogel. "With the integration of our SW2x1 switch into Sundance's Titan and Fastbreak products, we've created an easily scalable redundancy option for automatically controlling peripheral devices. In a broadcast setting where networks are increasingly running high-profile, multichannel operations with reduced staffing, the availability of this type of system is more crucial than ever."
